I would like to be able to do this and have it saved only on my mac or iPad. Make your notes and annotations on the Keynote slides, save them. Did those 'other apps' include PowerPoint for the iPad? Whatever happened to Ink? It was part of Tiger from memory and was supposed to be a big deal.

Ink Replay Ink Replay, the last tool in the Draw tab in Word, provides you with a type of animation for your Ink sketches. I have found the use of Ink in Word to be an excellent way to annotate and add content to a Word document. Remember that while you need Word for Windows 2016 (in an Office 365 subscription) to enter or edit Ink in a Word document, any recent version of Word will correctly display Ink. As one example, I have used Word for Mac 2011 to display Ink in a Word document without any problem (Video 8).
Microsoft PowerPoint 2008 for Mac introduced Mac users to many of the user-interface and functional features pioneered on Windows with Microsoft Office 2007. Along with the Ribbon - the unified, context-sensitive control band at the top of the screen in all Office applications - PowerPoint 2008 for Mac marked the first time Mac users could create and save PowerPoint themes. These collections of file-element colors, typeface selections, effects and transitions simplify the task of unifying a presentation visually and keeping projects congruent with a company style guide. Although PowerPoint 2008 for Mac ships with a set of themes you can deploy immediately, you also can create your own or customize a standard theme, and save your presets for later use.
